Long ago when the hearth was the center of the kitchen, trivets were forged out of iron to put hot pans on.  They became a canvas for the blacksmith to express his creativity.  This design features a double pinecone, a common sight around our Mountain town of Sisters, Oregon where the Ponderosa Pine is in abundance.
