By hammer and hand, these fire tongs are forged into shape at 2000 degrees.  Starting out as 3/4" square stock the material is drawn down under 120 year old trip hammers to roughly the size and shape required, then the finish shaping takes place at the anvil with a hand hammer and a critical eye.  Our blacksmiths take great pride in this type of work, and their own creative energy goes into each piece that can never be duplicated by machine.
